Our experience in Iznájar was unbelievable. Sue and Derek were amazing hosts. When we arrived on a Sunday, it was a national holiday the following Monday; therefore, Sue and Derek had stocked our fridge with food. The cottage was perfect for what we needed… a real taste of a typical Spanish style dwelling. Extremely clean, and had everything we needed. 5 minutes from the lake and the town of Iznájar, we could not have chosen a better spot. Sue and Derek were around the entire time if we needed anything (and we had the added bonus of going sailing with them!). Would definitely recommend staying here!

The cottage is very well located, quite in the middle of the province of Andalucia. It is also very near a lovely lake and swimming pool where we went almost daily to take a dip! The cottage is lovely, clean and cosy. Both Sue and Derek provided good information & recommendation about the local places to see, visit and eat! They were friendly and we thank them for their hospitality. Definitely recommending this place to everyone we know that is heading that way. Thank you Sue & Derek for everything. We enjoyed our stay at your love cottage. Best wishes from Belgium. Mush, Brecht & Nora.

Sue and Derek have been very helpful and friendly. They gave us lots of information about the area. When we arrived at the house we were delighted to find some food and drinks to get us through the first night. The house is very clean and spacious. We spend a lot of time in the rooftop beergarten. There is even a BBQ available. The house is in a nice and friendly rural village. For light sleepers it can be useful to bring earplugs because of the village dogs ;). It was a great stay and we would definitely recommend it!!

Book Casa Las Eras if you want to enjoy the real Spanish life. It is situated at a magnificent location in a small village (La Celada) near a vast lake and a typical Andalusian town called Iznajar. We had a wonderful time at the cottage, which is fully equipped with all the things you need (and even more, like a dish washer, charcoal BBQ and smart TV!) It is not only a perfect place for a couple, it suits also great if you go with two couples or with kids. There is enough space for everyone. We hired a car and, and it was easy to visit: Malaga, Cordoba, Granada (Alhambra – book in advance ), El Torcal (limestone formation) and Caminito del Rey (beautiful walk along steep cliffs – book in advance ). And we also visited the local bar in La Celada, and we experienced a surprisingly good night. Sue and Derek, the owners of the property, are heartwarming people who will do everything to give you a unforgettable time at their place. We can recommend this accomodation to anyone!

Top Sue & Derek!

I describe a successful and memorable vacation holiday through the quality of people I meet. I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised nor welcomed than the reception I and my family received from Sue and Derek. While Sue had to leave the next day, Derek provided a fantastic Scottish twist on a great Spanish holiday. Their place was extremely comfortable, well appointed and homey. It was clean and had great charm. We were able to explore the Andalusian countryside and still have a great place to come home to. We enjoyed thoroughly the village which we lived and the convenience that it offered. Sue and Derek’s tips on local establishments and sites to see were greatly appreciate.

It’s been such a lovely experience staying in this lovely and unspoilt part of Spain. Sue and Derek gave us a lovely welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay, and screeds of tailored information about the area – They really went the extra mile. The casa is lovely – very well equipped and laid out and with lovely neighbours!! (Sue and Derek live there) La Celada is a surprisingly bustling little village with a shop and community bar, donkeys, chickens, dogs, cats and an amazing view over the historical town of Iznajar. There’s a playground for children and an exercise area for adults across the way from the house. If you want to step into real, rural and historical Andalusia, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place – fantastic!

Very nice house in small village in the middle of the olive grove, we spent a great time in La Celada. Sue and her husband were really pleasant, they gave us a lot of information about the area that is a wonderful place with a beautiful landscape. Highly recommended for couples and families.

Sue and Derek were brilliant hosts. They went out of their way to provide us with whatever we wanted or needed. The house is exactly as described and is lovely. The terrace is great for days when you just want to sunbathe, without leaving the house. Would highly recommend the house for a relaxing holiday in a true Spanish hamlet. Great weather, great hosts, great holiday!

“A good centre for touring the region” – 5 of 5 stars
We had a very good week in La Celada, Sue and Derek were very helpful to us and the acommodation was most comfortable. Iznajar is close by and proved to be a fascinating small town with plenty to offer. Do take a tour of the castle, we had it to ourselves and we were able to explore it thougrouly. Walks by the reservoir are great and you will find the people of the area easy to get on with even if, like us, your command of Spanish is limited. There is a good restaurant within easy waking distance and a good supermarket is only 5K away in Rute. Have fun.

“Good base in La Celada” – 5 of 5 stars
The village of La Celada is home to maybe 200 souls about 4km north of the town of Iznajar. It’s set on a height among olive groves. The soil is reddish brown. Everything is blue or white; whitewashed walls, and you see these surreal baby blue tractors towing baby blue tankers. Apparently something to do with some of the substances being applied in the olive growing. Casa Las Eras is a village house, well fitted out. The owners Sue and Derek are lovely; Sue is a photographer and her work decorates the walls. She was very helpful as regards stuff to do and info about the area. It’s very rural, very peaceful. Iznájar has quite a few attractions and there are restaurants and a centre dedicated to the massive reservoir. But it is within an hour or do drive of Granada and Cadiz and lots of the other must-see places in Andalucia.

“Friendly hosts, comfortable accommodation, beautiful lake, lots to do!” – 5 of 5 stars
Sue and Derek gave us such a warm welcome and couldn’t have been more helpful before and during our visit with planning trips out suitable for teenagers. The house was clean, really comfortable, had all mod cons and WiFi. For relaxing days the local lake has a lovely beach, warm water, kayaking, paddle boarding, pedaloes, bar and parking. The community swimming pool is clean and friendly with baby pool and bigger pool, refreshments and changing rooms. Iznajar is a pretty town and we loved the free Flamenco evening of music and dance. The network of roads around Iznajar makes it really easy to get to Granada (great Science Park and Water Park), Cordoba (stunning Mezquita and quaint narrow streets with lots of little shops), Antequera (Wolf Reserve and El Torcal out of this world!) and Malaga only an hour away if you want sea. Great family holiday and would recommend to everyone!

“Quite Simply Superb” – 5 of 5 stars
Quite simply a superb and relaxing base from which to explore real Andalucian life, and NOT be tainted by typical ‘tourist’ nonsense. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to leave.

“SUPERB” – 5 of 5 stars
If you want rock and roll, nightclubs and partying don’t come to La Celada. If you want “proper Spain” it is ideal. Beautifully located, very well furnished, all new but keeping the Spanish style. Sue and Derek are very attentive but not “in your face”, excellent owners and very, very helpful.

“Perfection and at a good price!” – 5 of 5 stars
We have friends in nearby Iznajar but like to stay in our own place so we can do our own thing! This village is a 5 mins drive from Iznajar – you can walk down into town but it is a uphill back and hard work unless you are really fit!
The house is exactly is advertised and more, very tastefully decorated with a gorgeous private roof terrace and little front patio which became a favourite spot to watch the village folk! This is a very quiet Spanish village but a well stocked little supermarket and staff with patience to deal with non Spanish speakers with courtesy! The locals are very friendly, greeting us in the street and one even offering me a lift when saw me walking down the road.
Plenty of hot water, good storage and numerous little touches that made our stay special – a tourist pack, loads of brochures and maps, a welcome pack with enough to prevent a rush to the shop, English TV option (although we rarely felt the need), books and an ashtray for outside smoking, amazing photos which are Sue’s handiwork adorning the walls.
My husband has mobility problems but well placed handles on the stairs made it easy for him.
The directions were great and lovely welcome with a fond farewell which ensures we will return!

“Great villa in a perfect location. Everything you want close to everything you need.” – 5 of 5
A wonderful villa with everything you could possibly need. We arrived very late at night and were met by the owners with a beer and a smile. The start of a great holiday. The villa provided excellent accommodation and a relaxing environment. They said to treat it as though it was our home and that is how it felt. It’s location is far enough away from major tourist areas to make it relaxing but close enough to be able to soak in the holiday atmosphere. It’s location allows you to get the true feel of Spain. For those who require a pool there is a large lake and beach a short distance away that provides a safe swimming and sunbathing area away from the coastal crowds. It’s a place to escape the stresses of everyday life and I can’t wait until I can get back again. A great villa with perfect hosts, a relaxing oasis in a busy world. Thanks for a great holiday.

“A wonderful place to stay!” – 5 of 5 stars
This is a gorgeous house in a lovely quiet town. Sue and Derek have thought of everything you might need to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The town is well located so that we were able to drive to Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and Ronda during our two week stay, however the nearby town of in Iznajar and the gorgeous lake, both in easy reach of the house, offer plenty of bars, restaurants, walks and interesting sights if you would rather stay local.
Derek and Sue live nearby and were fantastic hosts without intruding on our privacy. Nothing was too much trouble and they provided us with lots of information and useful advice when ever we needed it.
The house itself is great. Done out in a traditional style but with all the mod-cons you might require. It is spotlessly clean and all the facilities are of a high standard. The sun terrace is a real bonus and is equipped with table and chairs, sun loungers, BBQ and a much needed parasol. We did some stargazing and watched some beautiful sunsets from up there!

“La Celada village – simply special” – 5 of 5 stars
When you live in Spain, where do you go on holiday? We wanted somewhere dog-friendly, and within a few hours of our home on the Costa del Sol.
Sue and Derek’s lovingly-restored cottage in the friendly village of La Celada, a stone’s throw from Iznázar and the beautiful lake ticked all the boxes.
The accommodation is as described, and was very comfortable, with all we needed for our stay. While not intrusive, living behind the property, Sue and Derek are on hand to give advice on restaurants, or local places of interest to visit. There are any number of eating places within short driving distance dishing up great food at really good prices.
The property is ideally situated for exploring more of Spain. It sits on the borders of Málaga, Córdoba and Granada provinces, so travel to the many fascinating sites Andalucía has to offer is fairly simple. The road system is excellent, but you may find a GPS useful for getting around towns.
All in all, you will do well to make Casa Las Eras your base. And you won’t beat the price!
